ServiCar – Weather Based Closures

When ServiCar closes due to weather issues, it is done through a collaboration of School Superintendents and Transportation Supervisors from multiple school districts.

Our main focus is the overall safety of our students.

ServiCar subscribes to the Fox2 and WDIV Local4 School Closing networks. You can find out about any school closings by tuning-in to these channels or visiting online at fox2detroit.com or clickondetroit.com.

We make every attempt to notify these stations prior to the start of operations on days with heavy snow or ice accumulation. Due to the type of transportation service that we provide, and that we transport many students from one district to another, it is possible that ServiCar may not be transporting your student on days with anticipated inclement weather.

When we post a ServiCar closing for weather reasons, we post as three separate locations:

     ServiCar South Oakland
     ServiCar North Oakland
     ServiCar Warren

We provide curb-to-curb service for many of our students. If your street is heavily snow or ice covered the bus may not be able to safely maneuver. In that case we will call to advise you and discuss arranging another pick-up or drop-off location if at all possible.
